re: Erebor Scavanger Hunt

Most of this information is based on the community forum here. I have no doubt that there will probably be a guide on the wiki soon as well. I kind of wanted to give you an easier way to do step-by-step even if you wanted to try and figure things out yourself. This is all second-hand knowledge so don't make it 100% accurate.

Requirements: Black Book of Mordor Completed (Chapter 6), Both new episodes (1st in Dale Keep, 2nd Erebor)

Suggestive Requirements: Some quests may require you to be play at night, a few items will need to be made, and needed ability to fend off a standard-sized level 115 character

Reward: Erebor Royal Guard Goat and various standard Northern Mirkwood Rewards

1. There is an old tome located upstairs in Erebor, by Grotur, by one of the large crystals against the wall. It is only selectable when you get close to it, really close.

2. This tome needs to be turned into the king.

3. The king will suggest you find a page inside Erebor. It is located second floor by the entrance. Go up the stairs, move behind a pillar, and follow the ledge so you see the Mordor ash vendors below.

4. The page will have runes. It will spell out something: Kheleduram, meaning ,Glass/Mirror (Kheled), Lake/Pool (Zuaram)

5. This will guide you to a pedastal with rune markings on the side at Mirrormere, Lothlorien. The secret markings on the page will only appear at night.

6. The rune markings spell out something: Binakhram, meaning nameless or without name

7. You must then go to Nar's Peak and visit the library.

8. That rune, in turn, sends you to Thorin's Hall. Go to crafter's area, towards the forges, and make a right. Backpedal that ledge all the way to the southeast corner to find Orring.

9. He screams out "Nud-Melek" where you must find a note behind the dwarf at 9.1S, 101.6W

10. In turn, that note will lead you to an elf very close to the inner stable at Caras Galadhon (a little bit south).

11. Elf sends you to find Nauthlandir at Derndingle 41.1S 82.6W

12. This is the time those rune scraps that the king kept asking you to find in Erebor comes into play. I don't think they are required to finish the quest. Though, I'm not going to stop you from having a bit of fun. There are old chests that are scattered about like treasure caches. They are at:

26.3N 25.7W Page 1
21.0N 29.0W Page 2
21.8N 25.6W Page 3
28.5N 24.7W Page 4
29.3N 29.0W Page 5
26.4N 21.6W Page 6
16.9N 31.0W Page 7
17.2N 22.0W Page 8
26.5N 29.8W Page 9

You can have limited success using a decipher program like https://quipqiup.com/ but the answers are:

1. Znqnbanqns dr walql tal gly qlindjr = Zaragharaf is where the key remains
2. Ujelq bunqe. Yku wdhh jlle tk oqlrljt tclrl: Under guard. You will need to present these:
3. Edsslqljt rtkjl, enqg nje rtqkjb. = Different stone, dark and strong.
4. Rltqdlvle sqki tal ello odt, = Retrieved from the deep pit,
5. Ujelq bunqe ks tal bjnwdjbkjl. = Under guard of the gnawingone.
6. Bkhe, idjle nje skqble dj ikqdn. = Gold, mined and forged in moria.
7. Ujtdh yku akhe talrl dtlir, tal wny wdhh qlindj rcut. = Until you hold these items, the way will remain shut.
8. Jkjl aut tal hdjl ks Euqdj iny gjkw ks dt, aut = None but the line of Durin may know of it, but
9. Euqdjr skhg, alwnql want huqgr djrdel. = Durins folk, Beware what lurks inside.

13. Find the passageway in Zaragharaf, 4.1S, 110.4W at Durin's Way in Moria (by the bat cave)

14. Instead, you will find a note that redirects you to Othrikar, North Downs (Bring along some Bombur's Beard Lager from Thorin's Hall for the festival quest if you want). He will ask for the items.

Different stone, dark and strong - 1 Black Adamant
Retrieved from the deep pit from the Gnawing One - Skumfil, left side, tucked in a crevice to the left of the room with Old Gnawer
Gold, mined and forged in Moria - 1 Khazad-gold Ingot, prospected from anywhere from Moria or Enedwaith and forged using Supreme Tier

15. Head to Erebor. Go to the far back to the right side of the throne on the floor. There will be a secret keyhole. Use it.
