For kin mates using Windows 10, occasionally Microsoft updates do not properly install or re-install certain direct x runtime files needed for the game to run. Microsoft also freshens its web site. Here are two installer links for directx 9 files that may get lost with Windows 10 updates. These are Microsoft sites and I have checked them. Visual C++ runtime 2005: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=3387. Sometimes this page has loading issues, though. Visual C++ runtime 2010: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8328. Do not use a direct x download page that does not have https! Always use a properly formed Microsoft.com page! Phishers are tricksy whippersnappers.
